This original play is set in the garden of the mansion of a Japanese political family, and was written in an attempt to juxtapose a well-worn melodramatic human drama with the consciousness of the plants that surround its characters. Ta. Each actor played two roles, one as a human and the other as a plant. In traditional theater, the audience’s attention is focused on the drama of human emotions, but while the audience is enjoying their joys and sorrows, a completely different time and consciousness of the plants is flowing there, and human time is changing. I tried to see how I could make the theater feel that it was in the time of the planet. However, since the work was written upon request within a commercial framework, I was unable to pursue the theme thoroughly, and I was left with the feeling that I needed to try a different form of expression in order to pursue this concept. . “Project Pneuma,” which has been decided to be an artist-in-residence at KIAC in the summer of 2024, will test the concept of this time in a completely different format, connecting it with media art and incorporating the thoughts and reactions of the viewer into the composition of the work. The aim is to create a drama that includes the conscious world of non-human life forms, transcending cultures and languages.
