Asian Playwright Project is a platform for exchange among playwrights, organized by KYOTO EXPERIMENT and partner organizations across Asia and Oceania, including Australia, Taiwan, South Korea, New Zealand, and Hong Kong.

In 2026, under the theme of “Asian Diasporas,” the program introduces two works portraying migrants and their descendants, as well as their memories and communities, each presented in the form of a stage reading.

Kumiko Ueda directs The Story of Descending the Long Slopes of Valparaíso, written by Yudai Kamisato.
